The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will return home for its final contest in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center of the non-conference schedule with a matchup against Division III foe Rhodes College on Thursday, Dec. 7. Tipoff for the program’s annual Kid Game is scheduled for 11 a.m.

The Skyhawks (3-5) are looking to close out the home non-conference slate on a positive note after currently possessing a 3-1 mark in games played inside the Elam Center. Having dropped back-to-back contests, the Skyhawks will try to regroup from a disappointing outing at No. 4 ranked Louisville in which they fell 91-56. Poor shooting and 22 turnovers would prove to be too much to overcome against a talented and lengthy Cardinals squad.

UT Martin will look to lean on the backs of the team’s five top scorers led by reigning OVC Player of the Week Kendall Spray who averages 16.8 point per game. Freshman Chelsey Perry (11.8 ppg) continued to raise her season average with a team-high 15 points at Louisville while Emanye Robertson (10.6 ppg), Myah Taylor (10.1 ppg) and Janekia Mason (9.5 ppg) ranks as the team’s top scoring threats.

Rhodes College (5-1) enters the contest having won four consecutive matchups – including a 69-56 victory over Maryville College its last time out. The Lynx boast three players scoring in double figures led by Alyssa Owens with 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Owens is joined in double-figures by Lindsey Whiteside (13.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Allie Young (12.4 ppg, 6.8 rpg).

Thursday’s contest marks the first meeting between the two programs in the regular season.

The game will be broadcast live, free of charge, courtesy of the OVC Digital Network.
