MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will return home after a brief road trip to play host to a pair of Ohio Valley Conference doubleheaders against Tennessee State on Saturday, April 5 and Belmont on Sunday, April 6. Bettye Giles Field will host both doubleheaders with first pitch schedule for 1 p.m.

The Skyhawks (17-16-1, 5-3 OVC) come into this weekend’s action as winners of three consecutive games, including a doubleheader sweep at Evansville on Wednesday, winning 3-0 and 5-2. The Skyhawks received several standout performances on the day, led by the play of freshman Taylor Manning who posted a perfect batting average after going 4-for-4 on the day with a double and an RBI. Junior Kenzi Tate joined in the action with a .571 average to go with four hits and two RBIs. Sophomore Deven Wilson had a standout performance, notching a home run in both games, tallying three RBIs on the day.

Four pitchers saw action in the doubleheader, posting a combined ERA of 1.00. Tate (3-3, 2.41 ERA) started Game One, tossing a complete game shutout, allowing just two hits while striking out three on the day. Elizabeth Wiegand (9-4, 3.12 ERA) started game two, pitching three innings and allowing two earned runs. Casey Vincent (4-4, 3.29 ERA) tallied the victory in Game Two, tossing three perfect innings while striking out three. Brooke Kennedy (1-1, 1.57 ERA) tossed one inning of relief, striking out one to earn the save.
