MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will welcome Southeastern Conference foe Ole Miss to the friendly confines of Bettye Giles Field on Tuesday, March 25. Action is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.

The Skyhawks (13-15-1, 4-2 OVC) will take a break from Ohio Valley Conference play after splitting last week’s action. The Skyhawks earned a series sweep against Morehead State, winning 11-7 and 9-4 on Saturday before dropping a pair at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday. Freshman Gabby Glenn was a standout performer over the weekend, posting a .556 batting average while tallying two home runs and three RBIs.

UT Martin has four players with batting averages over .300, including Deven Wilson and Kayla Wade who are hitting .3955 and .363, respectively. Wilson not only leads the team in batting average but in doubles (nine) and RBIs (17) as well. Kenzi Tate and Lauren Smith provide power to the Skyhawk lineup with four home runs each.

The pitching core is led by Elizabeth Wiegand with an 8-3 record and 3.05 ERA. Wiegand has tallied nine complete games and three shutouts on the year. She has held her opponents to a .242 batting average.

Ole Miss (19-14) is paced by RT Cantillo who is hitting a blistering .506 batting average with 45 hits, seven doubles, two home runs and 16 RBIs. The Rebels have five players hitting over .300 on the year, including Allison Brown (.356) and Alyssa Invergo (.350) who are both hitting over .350 on the season.

The Rebels hold a 7-2 series advantage, including a most recent 3-2 victory earlier this season. UT Martin knocked off Ole Miss in the Rebels lone trip to Bettye Giles Field last season with a decisive 1-0 victory on March 13, 2013.
