MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will host an NCAA Tournament Selection Show Party beginning at 5:30 p.m., Monday, March 17, in the Student Life Center located on the corner of Moody Avenue and University Street.
Fans will get a chance to watch the NCAA Selection Show live on ESPN while listening in on a live “Skyhawk Talk” radio broadcast conducted by Chris Brinkley.
The NCAA Tournament begins on March 22 and possible first-round locations include: Ames, Iowa; Baton Rouge, La.; Chapel Hill, NC; College Park, Md.; College Station, Texas; Durham, NC; Iowa City, Iowa; Knoxville, Tenn.; Lexington, Ky.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Seattle, Wash.; Storrs, Conn.; Toledo, Ohio; University Park, Pa.; Waco, Texas and West Lafayette, Ind.
The Skyhawks defeated Belmont Saturday afternoon at Municipal Auditorium to win the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament and claim the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament for the fourth consecutive year.
UT Martin is 24-7 on the year and is currently ranked 76th in the NCAA RPI rankings. The Skyhawks rank third in the country in scoring with 84.6 points per game while scoring 100 points or more on eight occasions. Senior guard Heather Butler ranks ninth in the country in scoring with 23.7 points per game. Both Butler and Jasmine Newsome rank in the top four in NCAA active scoring by combining for 5,404 career points and ranking first and second on the Ohio Valley Conference’s all-time scoring list.
Fans will also have a chance to purchase the brand new “4-Peat” OVC Tournament championship shirts and watch the season highlight reel at the event.
