MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will look to kickoff the beginning of a nine-game Spring Break swing through the state of Florida with its fourth non-conference tournament of the season Saturday, March 1-2 at the UCF Holiday Inn Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

The Skyhawks (4-8-1) will begin the tournament against Princeton on Saturday, March 1 at 8 a.m. before facing off against Stetson at 12:30 p.m. They will cap the weekend’s action on Sunday against College of Charleston at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

UT Martin was last in action at the Ole Miss Red and Blue Classic where the Skyhawks finished the tournament 1-4. The Skyhawks fell to Buffalo in the tournament opener, 6-4 in eight innings. Saturday saw the Skyhawks and freshman Elizabeth Wiegand dominate Northern Colorado with a one-hit shutout victory, the Skyhawks lone win of the weekend. UT Martin would drop the final three tightly contested games of the tournament by a combined four runs.

Offensively, the Skyhawks are led by senior Kayla Wade who paces the team with a .341 batting average, 15 hits, two triples and seven stolen bases. Junior Kenzi Tate has proven to be a dual threat, posting a .310 batting average to go along with three doubles, two home runs and six RBIs on the season. Overall, the Skyhawks have five players who have tallied five or more RBIs on the season.

In the circle, the Skyhawks will look to Tate with a 2-3 record, 3.30 ERA, four complete games and 27 strikeouts on the season. Tate is joined by junior lefty Casey Vincent who has posted a 0-3 record to go with a 4.06 ERA in 20.2 innings of work. Wiegand leads the team with 29.2 innings of work and a record of 2-1 while posting an ERA of 4.01 on the season.
