BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Ohio Valley Conference announced today that University of Tennessee at Martin soccer defender Lucy Pater has been named adidas OVC Defensive Player of the Week after the Skyhawks dominating performance this past weekend.

Pater helped the Skyhawks to their fifth shutout of the season, including two over the weekend at Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky. The pair of wins marks the first time in program history in which UT Martin swept both Morehead State and Eastern Kentucky on the same road trip.

Along with Pater’s defensive presence, she tallied two assists over the two matches. It was Pater’s touch off a pair of corners which set up her teammates for goals. The Brentwood native has seen action in 1266 of the team’s 1280 minutes this year, leading the Skyhawks in that category.

This marks the second time this season that a UT Martin soccer player has taken home the leauge’s highest weekly honor. Teammate Mariah Klenke was named OVC Goalkeeper of the Week on Sept. 24.

Pater and the Skyhawks will return to action on Friday, Oct. 18 when they close out their travel schedule with a trip to Tennessee Tech. Action is set to get underway at 3 p.m.
