MARTIN, Tenn. – For the second straight week, the University of Tennessee at Martin football team has moved up one spot in the Sports Network Football Championship Subdivision poll, entering Week 6 at No. 22 in the national rankings.
This marks the third week that the Skyhawks have been voted into the Sports Network poll. UT Martin entered the rankings for the first time at No. 24 on Sept. 16, followed by a No. 23 ranking on Sept. 23.
UT Martin is currently 3-1 after a 17-7 victory at Southeast Missouri in its Ohio Valley Conference opener last Saturday. The Skyhawks boast an impressive resume against FCS squads, as they have not trailed at any point of the season and have not conceded a single point in the first half of all three contests against FCS opposition. In addition to Southeast Missouri, UT Martin has also defeated No. 24 Chattanooga (31-21) on the road and No. 7 Central Arkansas (24-23) at home in the nonconference portion of its schedule.
The Skyhawks lead the OVC in field goal percentage (.750), least sacks allowed (five) and third down conversions (32-for-66, 48.5 percent).
UT Martin returns to action this Saturday, Oct. 5 for a Homecoming matchup against OVC rival Jacksonville State. Kickoff time is set for 2 p.m. at Hardy Graham Stadium.
