CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin tennis team capped off their second fall tournament last weekend at Austin Peay in the Austin Peay Fall Open.
Senior Ivon Simic advanced her way to the A-Flight finals with wins over Murray State and Western Kentucky. Simic would later fall in a close match against Andrea Eskauriatza of Murray State.
Freshman Burcu Tari won the B-Flight singles with wins over Austin Peay and two Murray State players.
Simic and Tari teamed up for the first time this year, defeating two strong teams before ultimately falling to Murray State’s best in the finals.
“We have a very young team this year but they have gotten off to a very good start,” said UT Martin head tennis coach Dennis Taylor. “I hope we can continue our winning ways at the Chattanooga Tournament this weekend.”
