MARTIN, Tenn. – Over 350 fans attended the unveiling of the new Skyhawk Varsity Courts this evening on the campus of the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Before the Skyhawks began their match with North Alabama, a group of leaders were recognized for their contributions to the new tennis courts. Among those recognized were: Tim Nipp, director of UT Martin physical plant administration; Dr. Tom Rakes, UT Martin chancellor; Gina McClure, UT Martin director of campus recreation; Dr. Deborah Gibson, UT Martin interim chair of health and human performance; Phil Dane, UT Martin director of athletics; Danelle Fabianich, UT Martin assistant director of athletics for administration; Ryan McDaniel, architect from A2H, Inc.

UT Martin swept the doubles and the singles points, as Ivon Simic, Katie McCall, Jessica Silva, Florence Nicole, Sarah Candeloro and Burcu Tari combined for three doubles wins and six singles victories. The spectators enjoyed free ice cream from Turner Dairy Foods in Fulton, Ky.

Day two action from UT Martin’s fall tournament will continue against North Alabama on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 9 a.m.
