TENNIS TEAM SIGNS TOP SERBIAN AMATEUR PLAYER

May 1, 2013

MARTIN, Tenn. – Tamara Klimek has inked a National Letter of Intent to join The University of Tennessee at Martin tennis program next fall, Skyhawk head coach Dennis Taylor has announced.

A native of Novi Sad, Serbia, Klimek made a name for herself by excelling in numerous international tournaments. She was ranked in the top-5 in Serbia in the 16-and-under age division. The 5-5 Klimek attended Karlovacka Gimnazija High School, where she played under head coach Milan Conkic.

“What really sold me on Tamara was her upbeat personality,” Taylor said. “She is very quick around the court and has great groundstrokes.”

Taylor is expecting Klimek to step right in and make a big impact next fall as a freshman.

“We needed to recruit high level players to replace the very talented girls that are graduating,” Taylor said. “I believe Tamara is just what the doctor ordered. She has the experience and talent to help our team immediately.”

Klimek joins Sarah Candeloro (Camden, Del.) and Burcu Tari (Istanbul, Turkey) in UT Martin’s signing class.
