MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin junior Ivon Simic has been named to the Ohio Valley Conference’s second team as voted on by the league’s head tennis coaches, the OVC announced this evening.
Playing at No. 1 in both singles and doubles in every match this season, Simic posted an 8-12 record in singles and 9-9 mark in doubles against the stiffest competition the opposition had to offer. Against league competition, the Lauterbach, Hesse, Germany native went 4-6 in singles play and 7-2 in doubles while teaming with Anna Marie Herbold.
“I am happy to see that Ivon was recognized for her outstanding tennis skills,” Skyhawk head coach Dennis Taylor said. “She is definitely one of the best players in the conference. I feel confident that both she and Anna Marie would have made the All-OVC first team if we had a better team record.”
Also an All-OVC second teamer last season, Simic finished 2013 on a two-match winning streak in singles and a three-match winning streak in doubles.
For her career, Simic boasts a winning record against OVC foes in both singles (14-12, .538 winning percentage) and doubles (16-2, .889).
