LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team took on the No. 4 ranked Louisville Cardinals on Tuesday night, ultimately falling 91-56 at the KFC Yum! Center.
The Skyhawks (3-5) dropped their second consecutive contest after proving to be no match to the size and athleticism of the Cardinals. UT Martin would struggle to shoot just 32.8 percent from the field in the contest while being forced into 22 turnovers.
UT Martin was led in scoring by freshman Chelsey Perry with 15 points and seven rebounds in the contest. Reigning OVC Co-Player of the Week Kendall Spray wasn’t far behind with 14 points while junior Myah Taylor rounded out the Skyhawks in double figures with 13 points off the bench.
Louisville (9-0) remained undefeated with yet another impressive showing on both sides of the ball. The Cardinals would shoot 52 percent from the floor while posting a commanding rebound advantage and 44 points in the paint to go along with 35 points off turnovers. Overall, Louisville would place five players in double figures led by Myisha Hines-Allen with 16 points and eight rebounds while Jazmine Jones (14), Asia Durr (14), Sydney Zambrotta (13) and Arica Carter (10) filled out the stat sheet.
UT Martin will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 7 when playing host to Rhodes College. Tipoff for the Skyhawks’ annual “Kids Game” is scheduled for 11 a.m.
