OXFORD, Ohio –
The No. 10 ranked University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian squad picked up an exhibition victory today at Miami (Ohio), defeating the host RedHawks by an 11-8 margin.

Fresh off its first national ranking since November of 2015, the Skyhawks edged out Miami (Ohio) 5-4 in Hunt Seat and 6-4 in Western. A total of 16 UT Martin riders made their season debuts today, including all 10 Skyhawks who took part in the Hunt Seat discipline.

In equitation over fences, Quinn Reed (83 points) and Savannah Metheny (78 points) each claimed team points for UT Martin. Sarah Kent’s score of 72 points tied her opponent and resulted in a 2-2 draw in the overall score.

The Skyhawks claimed three of the five points in equitation on the flat, led by Brooke Pfeiffer’s 75-point performance. Elise Bauchamp and Kenzie Mezrah also garnered team points for UT Martin with scores of 63.5 and 59, respectively.

Jade Bleskey brought home an MOP in horsemanship, posting a 73.5 score to secure a team point for the Skyhawks. Bailey Newlin also picked up a team point for UT Martin with her 65.5-point effort.

UT Martin accounted for four of the five points awarded in reining, paced by an MOP performance by Hannah McDonald (70.5 points). Sammi Felts notched a team point for the Skyhawks with a 68.5-point effort while Bobbie Piddock and Tess Baumann each earned a team point with identical scores of 68 points.

UT Martin wraps up its fall slate on Nov. 9-10 when it hosts the Skyhawk Invitational at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion. UT Martin is one of four teams to take part in the event, joining No. 5 SMU, No. 9 Fresno State and Delaware State. Matchups will be announced at a later date.
