MARTIN, Tenn. – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association announced today that Randi LaChance, a freshman at the University of Tennessee at Martin, was named an honorable mention All-American in equitation on the flat.

LaChance, who was named United Equestrian Conference Freshman of the Year and an all-conference honoree in equitation on the flat last week, becomes the eighth All-American in Skyhawk equestrian history.

The Exeter, RI native took the UEC by storm during her freshman campaign. LaChance secured a team-high four points and was responsible for an MOP against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 18. She tallied a score of 76 or better in each of her seven regular season performances, including a career-best 80 on Sept. 29 against defending national champion and then-No. 1 Auburn.

Overall, LaChance averaged a 72.5 score in equitation on the flat. She also took part in equitation over fences on five different occasions, dialing up four points and a team-best two MOP’s. She won her head-to-head matchup against then No. 4 Texas A&M on Sept. 23 and posted a career-high 91 in the showdown against No. 1 Auburn just six days later.

In order to earn NCEA All-American status, a rider must have a 67 percent or higher winning percentage (excluding ties), compete in a minimum of five competitions in the NCEA format and have at least an adjusted NRS score of 85 for flat, 90 for fences, 77 for reining or 80 for horsemanship.
