MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team will conclude its current five-game road trip with a trip to Evansville, Ind. Tuesday, March 21, to take on Missouri Valley Conference foe Evansville Purple Aces.

This will be the 20th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Purple Aces holding a 16-3 advantage over the Skyhawks, including holding an 8-1 mark when the game is played in Evansville. The two teams met last season on the diamond with the Purple Aces notching the win. In total, Evansville has won the last six meetings between the two squads, as UT Martin will be looking to pick up their first victory in the series since Feb. 25, 2009.

UT Martin (7-10, 0-6) has seen a couple of hitters stand out in recent weeks, as freshman Connor Aube and second baseman Tyler Albright have cemented themselves as two of the biggest offensive threats in the Skyhawk lineup. Aube has been stellar in conference play hitting .480 and remaining a dominant force in the leadoff spot with an on-base percentage of .567. Albright has been the most consistent performer for UT Martin notching a .400 average, while pounding out seven doubles and driving in 15 runs.

The Skyhawk pitching staff is looking to get back on track after a tough weekend series against Southeast Missouri. Freshman Winston Cannon (2.79) and captain Dalton Westfall (2.97) have both recorded earned run averages below three on the season. As a staff, UT Martin has racked up 170 strikeouts and only allowing 10 home runs on the season.

Evansville (7-11, 0-0) is led offensively by infielder Trey Hair, who has racked up a .324 average, including nine doubles, while driving in 15 runs on the season. Andrew Tanous has also contributed batting .319 with seven doubles and a home run on the season. The Purple Aces pitching staff is paced by reliever Jack Cavanaugh who has yet to allow an earned run in six total appearances. The right-handed freshman has allowed only six hits in nine innings of work. Starter Patrick Schnieders (2-2, 2.36 ERA) has been the most consistent performer in the Evansville rotation.

First pitch from Braun Stadium for tomorrow night’s game is scheduled for 6 p.m.
