MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team holds its final nonconference home game of the season when it takes on the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats out of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is set for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 17.

This is the third consecutive season that the Skyhawks (8-4) and Bethune-Cookman will clash, as each side has claimed a road win in the series. Last season at the Elam Center, both teams knocked down 13 three-pointers apiece before the Wildcats escaped with an 86-79 come-from-behind win.

UT Martin’s eight overall victories are tied for the most in the Ohio Valley Conference. Despite the fact that their 11-game home winning streak was snapped on Wednesday, the Skyhawks have won over 80 percent (25-6) of their home contests in the past three seasons.

Kedar Edwards leads a UT Martin squad that ranks fifth out of 347 Division-I basketball teams in assists (203). The senior forward from Brooklyn, NY is one of just two OVC players to rank in the top-20 in the league in scoring (16.1 points per game, seventh), rebounding (5.7 per game, 19th), assists (4.1 per game, seventh), steals (1.8 per game, fifth) and blocks (1.0 per game, fifth).

Bethune-Cookman (3-8) is coming off a narrow 79-73 overtime loss at South Florida last Monday, the third overtime game the Wildcats have played so far this season. Bethune-Cookman opened up a 19-point advantage and held a lead for over 37 minutes of clock time before the Bulls scored 13 unanswered points to close out regulation and force overtime.

Junior swingman Brandon Tabb has emerged as one of the most dynamic scorers in the nation for the Wildcats. He ranks in the top-10 in the country in seven different categories, including three-point field goals made (4.27 per game, third) and scoring (240 points, eighth).
