UTM EQUESTRIAN BATTLES A PAIR OF TOP-10 OPPONENTS IN GEORGIA

BISHOP, Ga. – The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team traveled to the Peach State for two matchups against ranked opponents on Saturday, as the Skyhawks fell to No. 3 Georgia (17-2) and No. 10 New Mexico State (12-3) at the UGA Equestrian Complex.
Against Georgia, the Skyhawks earned a team point in both equitation over fences and in horsemanship. UT Martin was defeated by a 739-668 margin in Hunt Seat and a narrow 699.5-671 margin in Western.
After Randi LaChance was responsible for a tie with 76 points in equitation on the flat, Savannah Metheny secured a team point with a 79-point performance in equitation over fences. Bobbie Piddock captured MOP accolades in horsemanship, piling up 72.5 points.
The Skyhawks put on a strong showing in equitation on the flat against New Mexico State before the Aggies came away with a 618-583 win in Hunt Seat and a 561-464.5 edge in Western.
Claire Ottinger was named MOP in equitation on the flat after her 83-point effort was the best score in the event. LaChance also continued her successful weekend with 79 points and a team point in equitation on the flat.
In horsemanship, Madeline Williams earned a team point after accumulating 72.5 points. Brittany Woodard also tied her head-to-head matchup with a 71-point effort in horsemanship.
UT Martin closes out its fall slate at home, as it hosts Miami (Ohio) on Friday, Nov. 18. The competition will begin at 10 a.m. at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
