RICHARDSON NABS ADIDAS OVC GOLFER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES
October 5, 2016
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – One day after clinching his fourth tournament win in the last calendar year and leading the University of Tennessee at Martin to its first victory of the season, Hunter Richardson was tabbed as adidas Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week today.
Today’s announcement marks the fifth career OVC Golfer of the Week honor for Richardson, tying him with Brendon Caballero for the most career weekly mentions in Skyhawk history.
Richardson bested the field of 69 golfers at the Skyhawk Fall Classic, held at Paris Landing State Park in Buchanan, Tenn. The defending OVC medalist shot a 69 in each of the first two rounds before finishing with an even-par 72 on Tuesday to bring his tournament total to 210 (-6).
Richardson’s effort helped guide UT Martin to not only its first win of the season but also its first Skyhawk Fall Classic victory, winning the tournament for the first time since its inception in 2007. The Skyhawks finished with a score of 860 (-4), generating the only under-par score in the 11-team field.
A junior out of Clarksville, Tenn., Richardson currently ranks fourth in the OVC with a 70.8 scoring average. He has compiled three top-10 finishes in four tournaments so far for UT Martin.
Richardson and the Skyhawks return to the links on Oct. 16-18 when they travel to Greystone Golf Course in Dickson, Tenn. for the F&M Bank Championship, hosted by Austin Peay.
