MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin golf fans can monitor the team’s progress during the upcoming SIUE Derek Dolenc Invitational, as Birdiefire will provide hole-by-hole updates throughout the two-day, 54-hole tournament.
The Skyhawks are one of 15 teams who will vie for the tournament championship, as they join Bradley, Eastern Illinois, Missouri State, Mott Community College, Murray State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Dakota, Northern Iowa, Omaha, host SIUE, South Dakota, Tennessee Tech and Western Illinois.
The tournament will be played at the Gateway National Golf Links in Madison, Ill., a par-71 course that plays at 7,092 yards. The first round tees off with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 26 before the second round takes place later that afternoon. The third and final round begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
UT Martin has played a pair of tournaments so far in 2016-17, placing second in the Murray State Invitational and seventh in the EKU Intercollegiate. The Skyhawks currently rank third in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 283.5 team scoring average while defending OVC medalist Hunter Richardson has paced the team with a 70.5 stroke average.
