LONDELL LEE NAMED ADIDAS OVC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
September 11, 2016
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – For the second consecutive week, a member of the University of Tennessee at Martin football team earned adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors this afternoon. Junior Londell Lee was tabbed the league’s Specialist of the Week after his standout performance against Hawai’i on Saturday evening.
A native of Palos Heights, Ill., Lee snapped a five-year drought for the Skyhawks after he returned a punt against Hawai’i. In his lone punt return of the evening, Lee scampered 79-yards down the left sideline for a touchdown. His punt return was the first touchdown returned by a Skyhawk since CJ Estele accomplished the feat against Austin Peay on Oct. 8, 2011. The return was also the first allowed by Hawai’i since 2010 when USC returned one. He also returned two kickoffs for 42 yards, including a 28-yard return.
The award marks the first of Lee’s career and first adidas OVC Specialist of the Week honor since Jackson Redditt earned the honors following Week Two last year.
UT Martin will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 17 when it makes its home debut in newly renovated Hardy M. Graham Stadium against NAIA foe Bacone College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the grand opening ceremony for the facility scheduled for 11:30 a.m.
