July 27, 2016
MARTIN, Tenn. – Connor Aube, who will suit up as a freshman outfielder for the University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team in 2017, has been recognized by USA Today as the “Player of the Year” in the state of Maine.
Aube recently wrapped up a successful prep playing career at Falmouth High School, earning all-state honors in each of his final two seasons. The 5-11, 180-pound speedster hit .516 with eight home runs, 26 RBI’s, 33 runs scored and 14 stolen bases during his senior campaign, helping the Yachtsmen post a 19-1 overall record. Falmouth won the Western Maine Conference and also made an appearance in the Class A state championship game in 2016.
A 2016 Under Armour Preseason All-American, Aube took part in the Class A/B Senior All-Star Game and the Maine vs. New Hampshire Senior All-Star Game this spring. He also earned the Rupert G. Johnson Award from the Western Maine Baseball Umpires Association after winning conference Player of the Year accolades – marking the fourth consecutive season that he had garnered all-conference status.
In addition to his accolades on the diamond, Aube was a standout high school football player. He was an all-state running back during his senior campaign, gaining 1,932 all-purpose yards to go along with 22 total touchdowns for a Falmouth squad that went undefeated during the regular season. He was one of 12 semifinalists for the James J. Fitzpatrick Trophy, awarded annually to the top player in Maine high school football.
Aube is one of 16 newcomers and seven true freshmen on the Skyhawk roster for 2017. UT Martin has tied the program record for most Ohio Valley Conference wins over a two-year span in head coach Rick Robinson’s first two seasons as Skyhawk head coach.
