MEN'S HOOPS CONTINUES THREE-GAME ROAD SWING AT IN-STATE OVC WEST RIVAL AUSTIN PEAY
December 31, 2013
MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball squad will look to even its league record on the young season when it visits the Austin Peay Governors at the Dunn Center. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
These two teams split last season with each team protecting its own home court. The Skyhawks claimed a 76-74 overtime victory at home on Jan. 5 while Austin Peay earned a 91-58 win in Clarksville on March 2.
UT Martin (5-11, 0-1 Ohio Valley Conference) is coming off a hard-luck 70-65 loss at Jacksonville State in its league opener on Monday. In that game, the Skyhawks opened up a double-digit lead early in the second half before the Gamecocks took a late lead and made it stand.
Austin Peay (6-8, 0-0 OVC) snapped a tough three-game losing streak on Monday with a 93-57 home win over Dalton State out of the NAIA. Travis Betran tossed in a game-high 24 points for the Governors, who shot 69.8 percent for the game (37-for-53). Austin Peay had previously lost its last three games against in-state foes Vanderbilt, Lipscomb and East Tennessee State by a combined 12 points.
