MARTIN, Tenn. – For the third consecutive season, the University of Tennessee at Martin women’s soccer team will head to the pitch Sunday with a Ohio Valley Conference Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth on the line.
Sunday’s matchup in the league’s tournament championship will see both the No. 1 and 2 seeds faceoff as the Skyhawks, the tournament host, will play Morehead State on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Skyhawk Field.
The Skyhawks and Eagles have a familiar OVC Tournament history, with the Skyhawks winning its most recent tournament matchup in the 2011 tournament title game 2-1. In the finals matchup, the Skyhawks came back from an early 1-0 deficit to score two goals within five minutes of each other, deep into the second half, to give the Skyhawks their first of four consecutive OVC championships.

Senior Abi Sanvee tallied one goal while juniors Ashlie Watson and Michelle Calmeyn each tallied strikes on the day. Goalkeeper Mariah Klenke tallied four saves on the day, earning the shutout victory and securing head coach Phil McNamara’s 200th career victory.
Morehead State (9-10-1, 7-3 OVC) comes into the title match as winners of six of their last seven matches. The Eagles look to OVC Offensive Player of the Year for their offense as junior Jade Flory has 14 goals on the year and five assists for a total of 33 points. OVC Freshman of the Year Angela Black has six goals on the season and four assists. Flory scored one goal in the 4-2 victory over Austin Peay in Friday’s semifinal match while Black tallied two goals.
