MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team heads into the weekend boasting a season-long six-game winning streak. The Skyhawks will play host to Ohio Valley Conference rivals Eastern Illinois on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. before wrapping up the weekend against SIU Edwardsville on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m.
The Skyhawks (8-7-1, 6-1 OVC) will look to build upon their 14-game home winning streak in conference play as they host Eastern Illinois on Friday night. Both teams come into play with identical OVC records, leading the league with 6-1 marks and a three point lead over the next closest foe.
Offensively, senior Abi Sanvee and freshman Ellie Myrick are tied for the team points lead with nine points each. Sanvee leads the team with four goals and one assist while Myrick has tallied three goals and three assists. Aoife Lennon and Alyssa Curtis trail the team lead with three goals each. Curtis has scored a goal in each of the last two games.
In goal, Mariah Klenke leads the team with 1212:36 minutes in goal, posting five shutouts on the season. She has allowed just 15 goals while tallying 75 saves and posting a .833 save percentage.
Eastern Illinois (6-10, 6-1 OVC) has won six of their last seven contests, including two straight over Murray State and Jacksonville State. The Panthers are led by Meagan Radloff who is tied for second in the conference in goals with six during OVC play, scoring in five of the team’s seven OVC matches. In goal, Cortney Jerzy is tied for second in shutouts (three) and saves (50) during OVC play while ranking first in saves percentage (.877).
SIU Edwardsville (10-3-3, 4-2-1 OVC) has won three straight games and four of their last five. The Cougars knocked off Jacksonville State 5-1, with five different players scoring a goal in the win. The Cougars are led by freshman forward Kayla Delgado who is third in the OVC with eight goals while ranking fourth in overall scoring with 16 points. Goalkeeper Jennifer Pelley leads the OVC with 0.66 goals against average. Her .831 save percentage is among the tops in the league while her six shutouts leads the OVC.
