MARTIN, Tenn. – The Tennessee Sports Writers Association named Jeremy Butler, a University of Tennessee at Martin wide receiver, as its Football Offensive Player of the Week today.
Butler was joined by Tennessee’s Brian Randolph, who was named the TSWA Defensive Player of the Week.
The 6-3, 205-pound Butler hauled in game-highs of nine receptions and 118 yards receiving at Football Bowl Subdivision powerhouse Boise State last Saturday. He was responsible for nine of the team’s 21 receptions, notching his fourth career 100-plus yard receiving game in just 12 games in a UT Martin uniform.
Butler also recorded game-highs of 10 catches and 91 receiving yards in the Skyhawks’ season-opening win at No. 24 Chattanooga.
Through two games, the Bradenton, Fla. native ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference and fourth in the nation in receptions (19) while ranking third in the OVC in ninth nationally in receiving yards (209).
UT Martin will take on No. 7 Central Arkansas this Saturday, Sept. 14 in its home opener at Hardy M. Graham Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
