BASEBALL TEAM TO HOST INDIANA STATE; TWO GAMES TO BE STREAMED ON OVC DIGITAL NETWORK

MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team plays host to the Indiana State Sycamores in a non-conference three-game set this weekend at Skyhawk Field. First pitch times for the series are set for 6 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 and 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.
The games on Friday and Sunday will be streamed live, free of charge courtesy of the Ohio Valley Conference Digital Network. The link for both gams can be found at the top of the page.
This is the fourth straight season in which the Skyhawks and Sycamores have squared off on the diamond. In the past three years, five of the nine games between these two squads have been decided by two runs or less.
The Skyhawks (10-30) slammed a season-high five homers the last time out. Grant Glasser launched a pair of round trippers, while Nico Zych, Byron Johann and Matt Haynes also went deep for UT Martin on Tuesday at Central Arkansas.
Overall, Johann leads the Skyhawks with a .318 batting average, 12 doubles, three homers and a .386 on-base percentage. Glasser (.299) and Zych (.292) are hovering around the .300 mark for UT Martin, who has also gotten a big lift lately from Taylor Cox (.438 batting average, .500 on-base percentage and .688 slugging percentage).
Senior right-hander Dan Tobik (1-5, 5.77 ERA) is expected to get the starting nod on the mound on Friday, followed by Cox (0-4, 5.86) and Potts (4-5, 6.65) in Games 2 and 3, respectively. Tobik ranks second in the OVC in strikeouts per nine innings (9.89) and boasts a 2.36 ERA in five home starts. Cox ranks third in the OVC in strikeouts looking (18) and is coming off back-to-back starts of seven innings and two earned runs apiece. Potts leads UT Martin with four victories and sports a 35:18 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
The defending Missouri Valley Conference champions, Indiana State (17-18) has lost five straight games heading into this weekend. The Sycamores are 2-3 this season against OVC squads.
Offensively, Koby Kraemer leads Indiana State in batting average (.304), doubles (13), slugging percentage (.448) and on-base percentage (.383).
On the mound, Devin Moore (3-4, 2.89) is the Sycamores’ only announced probable starter. Junior southpaw Sean Manaea (5-3, 1.57) and Daniel Peterson (1-4, 4.53) are potential candidates to start for Indiana State during the series.
