UTM'S 45TH ANNUAL SPRING COLLEGE RODEO SET FOR THIS WEEK; SATURDAY'S ACTION TO BE STREAMED LIVE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin proudly hosts the 45th annual spring college rodeo starting on Thursday, April 11 and going through Saturday, April 13 at the Ned Ray McWherter Agricultural Complex and NW (Doc) Robinson Arena.
Action begins at 7:30 p.m. on all three dates. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children and UT Martin students. Ages 5 and under are free with a paid adult. An $18 weekend pass for all three nights is also available.

Voted as the “Rodeo of the Year” for the past seven years by the Ozark Region, the annual event held in northwest Tennessee serves as a platform for the upcoming College National Finals Rodeo, which will be held in Casper, Wyo. on June 9-15.
Along with UT Martin, teams from University of Arkansas-Monticello, Cossatot Community College, East Mississippi Community College, Missouri Valley College, Murray State University, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Southern Arkansas University, Three Rivers College, Troy University and University of West Alabama will also vie for the chance to advance to the CNFR.
On the men’s side, UT Martin holds a commanding lead in the Ozark standings with 6,925 points – leading second place Missouri Valley by 3,290 points. Troy holds the lead on the women’s side with 2,493.33 points, while UT Martin enters the rodeo in fifth place with 1,040 points.
Thursday is Tyson, Obion County Complex Performance night, featuring timed events and rough stock events, including bull riding. Fans will have the chance to enter a drawing to win an MTD riding lawnmower.
Friday is Tennessee Tractor, LLC Performance night, which will also feature timed events and rough stock events, including bull riding. Friday is also a “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night to raise money for breast cancer awareness.
Saturday is Martin Paving Company Championship Finals, where the top-10 Ozark Region NIRA contestants will compete in a battle of the best of the best. Edward Jones Investments is also holding a free barbecue lunch at 11 a.m., followed by a scholarship auction at 12:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to the UT Martin Rodeo Scholarship Fund.
The UT Martin men’s team is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation, only trailing the College of Southern Idaho. Four UT Martin cowboys enter this week’s rodeo ranking in the top-10 in the nation, led by the team roping duo of John Alley and Clark Adcock – who rank first in the nation in that category. Tyler Waltz ranks second in bareback, Alley ranks fifth in all-around cowboy while Will Lummus comes in at seventh in steer wrestling.
On the women’s side, UT Martin is led by Natalie Fletcher, who ranks 17th in the nation in break away roping.
