MEN'S HOOPS OPENS ITS NINTH OVC TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE AGAINST MOREHEAD STATE ON WEDNESDAY

MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team opens the men’s portion of the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament when it takes on the Morehead State Eagles on Wednesday, March 6 at Municipal Auditorium in downtown Nashville. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
This marks the second time in three seasons and ninth overall time that the Skyhawks have qualified for the OVC Tournament. UT Martin is 1-2 all-time in OVC Tournament games played in Municipal Auditorium and 0-1 all-time against Morehead State in the OVC Tournament, falling to the Eagles by a 63-55 margin in the 2009 semifinals at Bridgestone Arena.
The Skyhawks (9-20, 5-11 OVC) enter the postseason as winners of five of their last nine outings. That includes wins over OVC West champion Murray State (69-68 on Feb. 28) and Eastern Kentucky (72-65 on Jan. 31), who finished with the second-best conference record this season.
Morehead State (14-17, 8-8 OVC) claimed an 88-74 road win in the lone meeting between these two teams this season. Mike Liabo and Terence Smith each scored 19 points to lead UT Martin, while Kahlil Owens’ 16 points led the Eagles.
