MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team is set to host Ohio Valley Conference opponent Murray State for senior-day weekend at Skyhawk Field.
UT Martin is led by Jordan Stoner (.379 batting average, four triples, four home runs and 22 RBIs). The Puyallup, Wash. native has been tearing up Ohio Valley Conference play and looks to keep up the momentum going in to the season series finale. Ben Aslett (.322 batting average, four home runs and 23 RBIs) has also been a key bat to the Skyhawk lineup while Tyler Albright (.276 batting average, four home runs and 29 RBIs) has been on fire as of late.
Albright is coming off of a weekend in which he had his way with the Jacksonville State pitching staff. He connected for a total of nine hits in the three-game series while driving in four runs and touching 15 total bases to go along with a 2.036 OPS for the weekend.
Right handed pitcher Austen Bullington (1-3, 8.50 ERA) looks to get the starting nod in Thursday’s game. The Newburgh, Ind. native is coming off of a seven-inning relief appearance in the opening game at Jacksonville State. He allowed just two earned runs and rung up eight batters in the outing. Right handed pitcher Winson Cannon (1-7, 8.09) is set to start Friday’s matchup while lefty Sam Folks (2-6, 8.63 ERA) will start on Saturday. The duo of David Hussey (1-0, 5.06 ERA) and Peyton Cain (0-5, 5.87 ERA and team-best two saves) have given the Skyhawks solid innings out of the bullpen as both men have struck out a combined 65 batters over 85.2 innings pitched.
Murray State is led by Grant Wood (.375 batting average, four home runs and 40 RBIs), Davis Sims (.348 batting average, 26 doubles, five home runs and 47 RBIs), Brandon Gutzler (.343 batting average, eight home runs and 42 RBIs) and Mike Farnell (.301 batting average, nine home runs and 35 RBIs).
Trevor McMurray (4-2, 5.68 ERA) is slated to start on Thursday with Friday and Saturday’s starters to be determined at a later date. Reliever Chance Carner has given the Racers valuable appearances out of the bullpen for fourth-year head coach Kevin Moulder.
