Game 1: Morehead State 1, UT Martin 0
Morehead State relied on the strong pitching performance of Chelsea McManaway in the first game of the day. The standout held the Skyhawks in check in the contest, allowing just one base hit on the afternoon – a leadoff single by Myers in the top of the fourth inning. As a whole, the Eagles would face just one batter above the minimum.
The Eagles were stifled as well as Ridolfi kept the squad out of the scoring column until the bottom of the sixth inning. A pair of singles and a walk would lead off the inning and load the bases with no outs. With the potential go-ahead run at third, Kylie Holton would drive in the ultimate game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to center.
Game 2: UT Martin 6, Morehead State 4
After being held scoreless in the opener, UT Martin struck first in the opening frame. Myers tallied a leadoff single to start the inning before later coming home to score on a single to left field by McBride to take an early lead.
The Skyhawks added to their margin in the top of the second inning. A pair of singles by Clark and Smith was followed by Hansen being hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. With the opportunity at hand, Pezzoni would notch a sacrifice fly to center which scored Clark and made it a 2-0 contest.
Morehead State would erupt for four runs in the bottom of the second. Trailing by two runs, the quartet of Hannah Murphy, Taylor Wheeler, Aubrey Bennett and Paige Scruggs tallied RBIs to put the Eagles on top 4-2.
The Skyhawks would charge back with a big inning of their own in the top of the fifth. Bivens led off the inning with a double to centerfield before coming home to score on a single by Duncan on the following at-bat. Another run would come home on a RBI single by Cark before Hansen later drove in a pair with a single to right field to take a 6-4 decision.
