UT Martin cracked the scoreboard in the sixth frame as Shrode led off with a single to left field. Albright then stepped to the plate and ripped a double down the right field line and advanced Shrode to third. An Aslett flyout was enough for Shrode to cross home plate. Collin Edwards then poked a single into right field and scored Albright to narrow the gap 19-2.
Morehead State rounded out the day by finding six more runs in the last three innings to claim the 25-2 victory.
Whitley paced the club in the second game of the day as he connected for a pair of hits, one home run and drove in a team-high five runs in the contest. Folks (1-4) started the game for UT Martin and tossed three full innings of baseball. He conceded 11 earned runs but was able to ring up three Eagles along the way. Hussey tossed two complete innings and racked up four strikeouts in his time on the mound. Konnor Aherin went 1.2 innings while Austin Buzick worked for 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
The Skyhawks looked to be in for retribution as Stoner needed just three pitches to connect for a single to lead off the first. Adduci would tally a single later in the inning as well but to no avail.
Morehead State put up a five-spot on the scoreboard in the first to take the early 5-0 advantage.
UT Martin would answer with a run in the second as Davis led off the frame with a home run to left field to narrow the margin 5-1.
The Eagles tacked on six more runs in the second to extend their lead to 11-1.
Stoner got things started in the third inning as he worked a six-pitch walk followed by a Shrode eight-pitch walk. An Albright groundout would put men at the corners and an Adduci walk would load the bases. Collin Edwards would keep up the free-pass theme as he drew a walk as well. Davis then stepped up to the plate and connected for a single to left field to plate Stoner. A Whitley single to right center would be enough for both Collin Edwards and Adduci to come home to inch closer with an 11-4 score.
Morehead State struck again in the fourth for four runs and pushed its lead out to 15-4.
The Skyhawk fifth inning saw the group rally for three runs as Adduci got it going with a seven-pitch walk followed by a Davis single. Whitley then belted a homer to right field to provide a 15-7 score.
The Eagles put up one run in the fifth, extending their lead to 16-7.
Aherin would come on in the sixth and find a pair of ground balls to get out of the inning unscathed, the second being of the double-play variety.
The Morehead State seventh saw the Eagles connect for a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to give the eventual final score of 18-7.
