MARTIN, Tenn. –
The University of Tennessee at Martin tennis squad resumes its Ohio Valley Conference schedule this week with a pair of matches, hosting Southeast Missouri on Wednesday, April 4 before traveling to Tennessee State on Thursday, April 5. Both matches will begin at 3 p.m.

The Southeast Missouri match was originally scheduled for tomorrow but has been moved due to the threat of inclement weather.

Wednesday’s showdown is the final home match of the 2017-18 campaign and will also serve as Senior Day for Elina Geut. The Orenburg, Russia native has posted a 40-37 singles record and a 27-16 doubles mark over four years in a Skyhawk uniform, including a combined 25-11 record in OVC play (18-9 singles, 7-2 doubles).

UT Martin (1-12, 1-4 OVC) is coming off a pair of tough 5-2 home losses last week to Murray State and Austin Peay. Freshman Amelia Campbell went 3-1 in those matches, teaming with Andrea Plantada to post 6-4, 6-0 wins at No. 3 doubles while also adding a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 6 singles against Murray State. Her only setback last week was a three-set tiebreaker singles decision at No. 6 against Austin Peay.

On the season, Asel Jumamukhambetova leads the Skyhawks with eight singles victories while Jemima Potter boasts a team-best 3-2 record in OVC singles action while competing in the No. 2 slot. Jumamukhambetova and Potter have teamed up for a team-high nine doubles wins and are tied with Campbell and Plantada for the best OVC doubles record (3-2) by any UT Martin tandem.

The Skyhawks have dominated the all-time series between this week’s opposition. UT Martin is 25-2 all-time against Southeast Missouri, having reeled off 19 straight victories over the Redhawks. The Skyhawks are also 21-0 in the all-time series against Tennessee State.

Southeast Missouri (4-10, 1-4 OVC) is coming off tough 4-3 conference loses to Austin Peay and Murray State last weekend. Reigning OVC Freshman of the Year Oleksandra Doroshenko was tabbed as the league’s third-best returning player. She won adidas OVC Player of the Week accolades on March 21 while teammate Kseniya Zonova earned adidas OVC Player of the Week honors on Jan. 31. The duo is tied for the team lead with 17 singles wins while Doroshenko accounts for a team-high 11 doubles wins.

Tennessee State comes into the week with a 12-6 overall record and a 1-4 mark in OVC play. Pragati Natraj boasts a remarkable 21-2 singles record on the season, including a team-best 4-1 mark against OVC opposition. She also is responsible for a team-high 17 doubles victories – 16 of which have come alongside Ani Popiashvili as her partner at all three slots (4-0 at No. 1, 3-1 at No. 2, 4-2 at No. 3).
