UT MARTIN FOOTBALL TO TRAVEL TO MISSOURI AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE IN 2018 CAMPAIGN

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team has officially announced its 2018 schedule which features two matchups against Football Bowl Subdivision programs, an in-state FCS non-conference matchup and the rigorous Ohio Valley Conference slate.
“This will be a challenging schedule week in and week out,” UT Martin head coach Jason Simpson said. “We start out the season with a matchup against one of the best quarterbacks in the nation at Missouri and then another FBS game at Middle Tennessee the week after. Then opening the home schedule against a formidable non-conference opponent in Chattanooga followed by conference play, we will be challenged every week.”
UT Martin will officially open the 2018 season with a matchup at Southeastern Conference foe Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 1. The contest serves as the first matchup between the two foes in series history.
The following week the Skyhawks will hit the road against Conference USA member Middle Tennessee on Saturday, Sept. 8. It marks the two squads 31st meeting in series history and first since 1999.
The Skyhawks will make their home debut on Saturday, Sept. 15 when playing host to UT system member and Southern Conference foe Chattanooga. The game marks the sixth matchup between the two programs with Chattanooga holding a narrow 3-2 advantage. The Skyhawks have held their own as of late, winning the last two matchups, both times beating the nationally ranked Mocs on their home turf.
UT Martin will open OVC play on Saturday, Sept. 22 when playing host to Austin Peay. It will mark the 67th matchup between the two league rivals with UT Martin holding a 38-26-2 series advantage while opening the annual Sgt. York Trophy series. The Skyhawks have won the last six games played against the Governors in Hardy Graham Stadium.
The Skyhawks will hit the road to close out the month of September, traveling to regional rival Murray State on Saturday, Sept. 29. The contest will mark the 57th meeting between the two programs while the Skyhawks enter the matchup as winners of 11 of the last 12 meetings against the Racers.
Following a bye week, UT Martin will host Eastern Kentucky on Saturday, Oct. 13. The meeting will mark the 29th between the two squads with the Skyhawks tallying a home victory in the Colonels last trip to Martin.
The ensuing week features a trip to Eastern Illinois on Saturday, Oct. 20. The Skyhawks have won seven of the last eight matchups against the Panthers while winning the past three games in Charleston.
UT Martin will cap off its annual Homecoming week of festivities on Saturday, Oct. 27 against regional rival Southeast Missouri. The Skyhawks will look to continue a stretch of strong performances against the Redhawks, winning 12 of the last 14 meetings.
The Skyhawks will open the month of November at defending OVC champion Jacksonville State on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Skyhawks will look to snap the Gamecocks lengthy conference winning streak, giving JSU their last loss in conference play during the 2013 season.
UT Martin will square off against Tennessee Tech on Saturday, Nov. 10 to serve as the team’s home finale. The game will mark the 40th meeting between the two programs while the Skyhawks will look to pick up their five consecutive victory in the series.
The Skyhawks will close out the regular season with a matchup at in-state foe Tennessee State on Saturday, Nov. 17. The contest not only serves as the 27th meeting in series history but also the finale of the Sgt. York Trophy series.
UT Martin will open preparations for the fall season with the team’s annual spring camp. The Skyhawks will open the spring practice season on Wednesday, March 21 at 4 p.m. All practices are open to the public.
