UT MARTIN GOLF IN 10TH PLACE AFTER FIRST ROUND OF BOBBY NICHOLS INTERCOLLEGIATE

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team struggled in the opening round of the 2018 Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, ranking 10th out of 14 teams with a score of 300 (+12).
Eastern Kentucky holds the overall team lead with a 287 (-1) through 18 holes. The tournament format calls for 18 more holes tomorrow before the third and final 18-hole round will take place on Tuesday, March 20.
Hunter Richardson led the Skyhawks with a 73 (+1), including one of three eagles in the tournament (on the par-5, 530-yard Hole No. 10) and a team-best 13 pars today. Ross Redmont was not too far behind with a 74 (+2) as he is tied for the tournament lead in par-3 scoring average (2.75, -1).
Nick Wolf (76, +4) collected a team-best three birdies today while Jack Story (77, +5) and Tate Chumley (79, +7) completed the UT Martin lineup today.
Zach Haynes also took part in the 84-man field as an individual, posting a first-round 78 (+6).
The second round begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start as the Skyhawks are paired with Detroit Mercy and Maryville College. Haynes will tee off alongside individuals from host Tennessee Tech and Marshall.
