MARTIN, Tenn. –
The University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian program will honor its two seniors when it concludes the regular season at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion this week. The No. 8 ranked Skyhawks host Sweet Briar College for an exhibition on Thursday, March 15 before hosting Minnesota-Crookston on Friday, March 16. Both meets will begin at 10 a.m.

UT Martin will compete against Sweet Briar College and also hold its Western portion of its competition against Minnesota-Crookston on Thursday. The matchup against Minnesota-Crookston will conclude with the Hunter Seat discipline on Friday.

The Skyhawks will honor the career contributions of seniors Megan Aiosa and Madeline Williams this week. Each are four-year members of the program and have been integral components of a UT Martin program that has reclaimed its spot as one of the top equestrian teams in the nation, as the Skyhawks have been nationally ranked in 14 different weeks this season.

A Paris, Tenn. native, Aiosa has competed in reining in 25 career meets – tallying three victories in that span. She accounted for a career-high score of 72.5 points in the United Equestrian Conference championships against No. 9 SMU last season and was named MOP against No. 4 Auburn as a sophomore. That performance led her to UEC Reining Rider of the Month honors for September 2015.

Williams has taken part in 38 career competitions in reining, earning 14 head-to-head wins and four MOP’s. Her career-best score of 74 points occurred in the UEC consolation round against Fresno State in 2016-17, which was one year after she captured UEC All-Reining accolades as a sophomore. The Fruitport, Mich. native was also a regular in the horsemanship lineup through two years of her UT Martin career, notching two wins and an MOP in that event as well.
