SOFTBALL SKYHAWKS TO TRAVEL TO THE "SUNSHINE STATE" FOR SPRING BREAK MATCHUPS

The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will look to have some fun in Florida with five matchups in the Sunshine State during the team’s annual Spring Break trip, matching up against Bethune-Cookman on Thursday, March 8 before participating in the Stetson Invitational beginning on Friday, March 9-11.
UT Martin will play Bethune-Cookman in a single game on Thursday, March 8 to start the trip, first pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. The Skyhawks will then enter Stetson Invitational on Friday, March 9 with a contests against Holy Cross (10 a.m.) and Manhattan (12:30 p.m.). The squad will then take on Holy Cross (10 a.m.) and host Stetson (3 p.m.) on Saturday before wrapping up the invitational against Manhattan on Sunday at 9 a.m.
The Skyhawks (7-11) dropped three of four in their appearance at the Ole Miss Classic, picking up their lone run against Southern Miss on Saturday by a final score of 2-1. In the tournament, UT Martin would post a .277 batting average but struggle defensively and inside the pitching circle. The Skyhawks posted a 4.46 ERA as a team while allowing eight errors over the course of four games.
UT Martin will turn to its veteran leaders in hopes of gaining some momentum into the team’s home debut next week. Junior Alli Fulcher paces the squad with a .360 batting average while tallying five doubles, one triple, two home runs and nine RBIs. Senior Aeron Smith has posted a .357 average with seven doubles and 11 RBIs while senior Jodie Duncan is hitting .339 with two doubles and 10 RBIs. Fellow senior Alicia Hansen ranks as the team’s fourth player hitting over .300 on the season, posting a .314 mark of her own with three home runs.
Hannah Ridolfi (4-5, 1.99 ERA) paces a pitching staff which has taken a hit due to injury as of late. Ridolfi paces the squad with four wins and a 1.99 ERA in 59.2 innings of work. So far this season, Ridolfi has had eight of her 10 appearances in which she has allowed two earned runs or fewer. Sara Hooten (0-2, 5.92 ERA), Samantha Scott (0-0, 8.75 ERA) and Seeley Layne (0-1, 14.00 ERA) could also see action.
This marks UT Martin’s first appearance in the Stetson Invitational since the 2016 seasons. The Skyhawks have posted a 2-6 overall mark against the teams in the field of Manhattan (1-2), Holy Cross (1-1) and Stetson (0-3).
