SKYHAWK SOFTBALL TO PLAY FIVE GAMES IN CHATTANOOGA FROST CLASSIC THIS WEEKEND

Tournament Game Notes
The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will return to action with a trip across the state for an appearance in the Chattanooga Frost Classic over the weekend, running from Friday, Feb. 23 through Sunday, Feb. 25.
The Skyhawks (3-6) will square off against Alabama State on Friday at 10 a.m. before taking on Western Illinois at 12:30 p.m. On Saturday the Skyhawks will matchup against Western Michigan at 10 a.m. before coming back to take on host Chattanooga at 3 p.m. The squad will then cap off its tournament appearance against IUPUI on Sunday at 8 a.m.
UT Martin is looking to string together a strong tournament performance after going 1-4 last week, picking up the team’s lone victory against Appalachian State while falling to Mississippi State, Holy Cross, Fort Wayne and Middle Tennessee.
The Skyhawks boast four players who enter the weekend hitting over .300 on the season with senior Jodie Duncan leading the squad with a .379 batting average, 11 hits, two doubles and four RBIs. Junior Alli Fulcher has tallied a .360 average with four extra-base hits, including two doubles, one triple and one home run to go along with five RBIs. Seniors Aeron Smith (.350, four doubles and seven RBIs) and Alicia Hansen (.300, one double, one RBI) rounds out the quartet.
In the pitching circle, sophomore Hannah Ridolfi is 2-2 on the season with a 1.77 ERA in 23.2 innings of work. Freshman Caitlin Karo has also been strong, notching a 1-3 mark with a 2.96 ERA in a team-leading 26.0 innings of work.
This marks the third consecutive year that the Skyhawks have appeared in the Chattanooga Frost Classic. The Skyhawks hold a 13-16 series mark against tournament foes Alabama State (3-1), Western Illinois (2-0), Western Michigan (2-1), Chattanooga (5-13) and IUPUI (1-1).
