SKYHAWKS PUT UP A FIGHT BUT FALL 7-0 TO IN-STATE RIVAL MIDDLE TENNESSEE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin received quality production today in two doubles and two singles slots but the Skyhawks dropped a 7-0 decision to Middle Tennessee at the Adams Tennis Complex.
After the Blue Raiders claimed a win at No. 2 doubles, the No. 1 team of Asel Jumamukhambetova and Jemima Potter battled at No. 1 before narrowly falling by a 6-4 margin. Andrea Plantada and Amelia Campbell were locked in a tight decision with a 5-3 score at No. 3 before Middle Tennessee clinched the opening point.
In singles action, Jumamukhambetova and Potter each came so close to picking up a victory for the Skyhawks before falling in three-set tiebreakers. Competing at No. 1, Jumamukhambetova fell 6-1, 4-6, 13-11 to Maria Josefina Zehnder before Potter was a victim of a 3-6, 6-1, 6-1 comeback from Constanza Magazzini at No. 2.
Plantada took part at No. 6 singles, falling by a 6-1, 6-1 score. Jule Streif was slotted at No. 3 but came up short (6-0, 6-0) while Campbell fell by a 6-2, 6-2 margin at No. 4. Mizuki Sakurai dropped a 6-2, 6-0 decision at No. 5 while also teaming up with Streif at No. 2 doubles before falling 6-0.
UT Martin resumes its spring-opening five-match tour through Tennessee on Sunday, Feb. 11 when it travels to Chattanooga. First serve at the Manker-Patten Tennis Club is set for 3 p.m. CST.
