December 9, 2017
MARTIN, Tenn. – After seven of its first nine games of the season took place on the road, the University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team returns home for a Sunday, Dec. 10 matchup against the UC Clermont Cougars. Tipoff time is set for 2 p.m.
Tomorrow’s game also serves as a toy drive for Santa’s Village in Martin. Each person who brings a toy to the game will receive a free t-shirt. Fans can bring their toy to the entrance table on the floor’s north end to receive their t-shirt.
This game begins a stretch that features five of the next six Skyhawk contests at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. UT Martin has posted an .814 winning percentage (35-8 record) at home since the start of the 2014-15 campaign.
The Skyhawks (2-7) are coming off one of their most complete performances of the season in a 92-78 road victory at Arkansas State. UT Martin tallied season-highs in scoring, field goal percentage (.615, 32-of-52) and free throw percentage (.917, 22-for-24) while leading for over 32 minutes of clock time.
Fatodd Lewis pieced together one of the best games of his Skyhawk career during Tuesday’s road win, piling up 23 points with 14 rebounds. Matthew Butler (20 points) dialed up his sixth career 20-plus-point outing in two seasons at UT Martin while Parrish Hewitt (career-best 17 points on 6-of-6 shooting) and Terrence Parker (12 points) also cracked double-figures in the scoring column.
The Skyhawk offensive arsenal includes seven different players who have scored at least 15 points in a game this season. That ranks as the most out of 351 NCAA Division-I teams through this point in the season.
Located in Batavia, Ohio, UC Clermont (6-4) is a branch of the University of Cincinnati system. The Cougars are ranked No. 6 in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association.
UC Clermont will be playing its second game in as many days, as the Cougars fell by a 110-104 margin at home to No. 8 Warren Wilson College on Saturday. In that game, UC Clermont trailed by 23 points with just four minutes remaining before its comeback attempt came up just short.
