The University of Tennessee at Martin soccer team claimed a pair of postseason honors awarded by the Ohio Valley Conference at the annual awards banquet hosted by regular-season champion Murray State.

Junior Danae Kaldaridou was tabbed for All-OVC first team honors while freshman Kamryn Chappell garnered an All-Newcomer squad selection.

“We are delighted for Danae and Kamryn,” said UT Martin head coach Phil McNamara. “Danae definitely took a positive step forward as she made the All-Newcomer team last year and jumped up to the first team this season. I think she had a much more consistent year and finished the season with respectable stats. Kamryn came in and didn’t miss a beat from the first day of practice. She is a hard-working and sharp player. We are so excited with her success at such an early stage and hope she can challenge for greater honors going forward.”

A native of Athens, Greece, Kaldaridou led the UT Martin offense as she netted seven goals and tallied a team-best 18 points on the season. Her game-high in goals came in the season-opener when the Skyhawks hosted Marshall on Aug. 18 as she found the back of the net twice and also picked up an assist in the contest. The junior notched a goal in four different OVC matchups against Morehead State (Sept. 24), Belmont (Oct. 6), Austin Peay (Oct. 8) and Eastern Illinois (Oct. 15). She tallied a game-high two assists at Western Carolina on Sept. 9.

A defender from Flushing, Mich., Chappell was an integral piece of the UT Martin defense. She led the team in minutes played with 1,796 minutes logged on the year. Chappell was able to tally one assist on the season which came in the 3-2 victory over SIUE on Oct. 13. Although she did not account for any goals scored, she posted the best shot on goal percentage (.714) on the squad. The freshman played in all 20 contests while getting the starting nod in 19 matches.

Kaldaridou is joined on the All-OVC first team by Tennessee Tech goalkeeper Kari Naerdemann, Murray State forward Harriet Withers, Belmont forward Belicia Mendiola, Austin Peay forward Kirstin Robertson, Eastern Kentucky forward Jordan Foster, Southeast Missouri midfielder Esmie Gonzales, SIUE midfielder Emily Grahl, Murray State defender Karsyn Hasch, Tennessee Tech defender Lauren Brewer and Murray State defender Nyomi Devine.

Chappell joins eight freshmen, one sophomore and one junior on the All-Newcomer team including Murray State freshman forward Rebecca Kubin, Murray State sophomore forward Miyah Watford, Belmont freshman forward Julie Garst, Tennessee Tech junior midfielder Tina Marlot, Eastern Kentucky freshman defender Katie Shaffer, SIUE freshman forward MacKenzie Litzsinger, Southeast Missouri freshman forward Lexi Grote, Tennessee Tech freshman forward Kendall Powell, Austin Peay freshman forward Morgan Drawdy and Belmont freshman midfielder Sydney Cason.
