Collin Michael

Collin Michael joined the University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball staff in May 2018, serving as the team's exclusive strength and conditioning coach.

Michael comes to the Skyhawks from the University of Michigan. During his time in Ann Arbor, he worked with all Olympic sports, focusing on basketball, golf, lacrosse and rowing. He assisted with the Wolverine men’s basketball team who won the Big Ten Conference championship and advanced all the way to the national championship game.

Before his time at Michigan, Michael was a personal trainer at Absolute Performance in Williamsville, NY. He learned under various world-class powerlifters and former collegiate strength and conditioning coaches while working with various athletes ranging from eight years old to NFL combine trainees. He also designed field work and resistance training programs, coaching both field and strength work.

Michael also worked for five years at Crossfit Amherst in New York, where he served as manager and designed program workouts. He coached Olympic and power lifting skills to groups of 1-30 clients.

Michael played collegiate football under head coaches Jeff Quinn and Lance Leipold at the University of Buffalo, a Football Bowl Subdivision program who competes in the Mid-American Conference. He was a quarterback on the 2013 squad who advanced to the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl, which was only the second bowl game appearance in school history.

A Lexington, Ohio native, Michael was a two-sport star at Lexington High School. He was ranked the fourth-best quarterback prospect in Ohio and was tabbed the No. 41 prep quarterback in the nation by In addition to his success on the gridiron, he was also a key member of the Minutemen basketball squad.

Michael graduated with a degree in exercise science from Buffalo in 2017. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is also certified in HIPPA, CPR/First Aid and Crossfit Level 1.
