Vowell spent over 20 years in the United States Army and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During that time, she gained extensive knowledge of logistics management as she served in the ordnance corps.

Since 2014, Vowell has served as a firearms instructor for the Freedom Training Group (FTG), LLC, in Louisville, Ky. FTG is the premier firearms trainer associated with Cabela’s of Louisville. While serving as Senior Logistics Supervisor in the US Army from 2010-14, Vowell led over 100 personnel through a progressive training strategy that resulted in significant efficiencies in multi-million dollar contract management and resource forecasting. She also guided the organization through multiple logistics initiatives and group projects and capitalized on cross-leveling of individual skills. She established liaison with strategic partners for collaboration, synchronization and future planning of over 500 base closures, the reduction of thousands of combat vehicles and the redistribution of supplies and services that resulted in the organization’s ability to remain on its guided path.

While at Camp Perry, Vowell assisted in coaching a local junior shooting team and served as the chaperone for their attendance at the National Matches, also located at Camp Perry. She also supported NRA civilian marksmanship programs by providing official scoring on a significant amount of NRA postal match target submissions annually.

A native of Bumpus Mills, Tenn., Vowell competed for Bob Beard while a student at UT Martin from 1985-1988 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in natural resource management.
