Skyhawk Softball | Drew Erie - Student Assistant

Drew Erie

After a four-year career as a Skyhawk baseball student-athlete, Drew Erie joins the UT Martin softball staff as a student assistant.

Erie played in 79 games on the baseball diamond from 2013-16, logging 48 starts for the Skyhawks. He seized starter catching duties at the end of his freshman season and made a career-best 33 starts at catcher and left field in 2014.

A native of Lebanon, Tenn., Erie ranked fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference in opponents caught stealing as a sophomore, as he nabbed 16 would-be basestealers. For his career, he threw out 26 potential basestealers and added four pickoffs from behind the plate.

In the classroom, Erie achieved OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll status (at least a 3.25 Grade Point Average) in all four seasons. He also earned an OVC Medal of Honor for his perfect 4.0 GPA in both 2014 and 2016.

Erie prepped at Friendship Christian School, where he was an all-state honoree who helped the Commanders win four straight district, region and substate titles. He was also a part of a FCS program that made four consecutive appearances in the TSSAA Spring Fling.

Erie is currently pursuing his undergraduate degree in health and human performance at UT Martin.
