Skyhawk Football | Mike Treier - Co-Defensive Coordinator/Secondary Coach
Mike Treier is in his first season as the secondary coach and Co-Defensive Coordinator at UT Martin.
Before UT Martin, Treier briefly served as a defensive graduate assistant at Mississippi State following a two-year stint in a similar role at Marshall. While at Marshall, Treier worked alongside defensive coordinator Chuck Heater, assisting with the Herd’s secondary. Marshall’s defense ranked first in Conference USA during the 2015 season in scoring defense - allowing just 17.8 points per game – while pacing the league in total defense, limiting opponents to just 360.8 yards per game. Specifically in the secondary, Marshall’s pass defense ranked first in the conference, allowing just 15 touchdowns and 192.6 yards per game. The team’s 15 interceptions ranked amongst league leaders.
Prior to Marshall, Treier spent two seasons (2011-12) as an undergraduate assistant at Temple University working with the Owls defense and secondary. Before Temple, Treier spent two seasons (2009-2010) as an assistant at Penn Manor High School in Lancaster, Pa.
Treier graduated from Temple University in 2013 with a degree in business administration.
