Skyhawk Cheerleading | James Woody - Co-Head Coach
James Woody is in his third year with Skyhawk cheerleading as co-head coach alongside his wife, Jessi.
Last season, the Skyhawks earned third place accolades at a National Cheerleaders Association College Camp that was held in Hattiesburg, Miss. UT Martin ranked amongst the best in the field in cheers, chants, stunts, basket tosses and pyramids. At the conclusion of the camp, each participating team took on a Game Day routine in which the Skyhawks brought home the program’s first-ever bronze paid bid to the NCA College Nationals, which took place in Daytona Beach, Fla. on April 5-9, 2017.
UT Martin’s cheerleaders also received a Superior ranking – the highest award given – in their NCA College camp performance of a Rally routine, which consisted of tumbling, stunts, motions and pyramids.
James cheered competitively for two years at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tenn. He cheered competitively for two years at the NCA Nationals and also has three years of coaching intermediate and advance tumbling.
James also played collegiate baseball for three years at Martin Methodist after a standout career at Spring Hill High School.
A native of Columbia, Tenn., James also serves as business manager for the UT Martin athletics department.
