Skyhawk Women's Basketball | David Russell - Assistant Coach
David Russell begins his third season as a part-time assistant with the UT Martin women's basketball team.
Russell led Gibson County High School to its second consecutive Class AA state championship in March of 2010. He also served as an assistant coach to McMillan in 2009 when McMillan led the Lady Pioneers to their first Class AA state title and an undefeated 37-0 won-loss record.
Russell has 35 years of high school coaching experience and has won 951 games. Before going to Gibson County, Russell spent many years at Bradford High School, where he won five Class A state titles.
Russell is considered by many as an authority on press defense which causes teams to struggle to break and get the ball across half court.
